Sleeping high up over the wild spaces of the Timbavati under a blanket of stars is such a magical experience that it is almost impossible to describe. The Tanda Tula Star Bed experience allows guests the opportunity to live this dream, awakening their senses in a completely new and different way.
The wooden deck ,tucked secretly under a magnificent Leadwood tree boasts a four posted bed, keeping visitors warm and safe with feather duvets and mosquito nets. After an evening safari you will be dropped off at this secluded location, a steep ladder leads you to this cosy and comfortable platform. The Tanda Tula kitchen would have packed a picnic with the most tantalising tapas-style dinner, as well as your favourite drinks. All of this can all be relished with only the sounds of the wilderness for company and the incredible Milky Way watching over you. Being alone so high above the world gives one a sense of freedom and yet gently reminds us of our small existence in this greater galaxy.

Day 1 - Arrive at Turaco Treetops, settle in and feel the forest. Grab a drink and enjoy the nature from your private balcony. End your day with an evening walk on the reforestated boundary zone of the lodge.&nbsp;
Day 2 - You will start your day with an early breakfast, before you are heading off to Kayanchu, the starting point of the chimpanzee trekking. A ranger from Uganda Wildlife Authority will guide you through the lush Kibale Forest until you find what you came for: a visit to one of the chimpanzee families.&nbsp;
Day 3 – Wake up to the sounds of the forest. After your breakfast you will visit Community Based Organisation (KAFRED). One of their community guides will take you around to explore the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary that inhabits over 200 species of birds and several species of primates and monkeys, including the Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, L’hoest Monkey, Vervet Monkey and the Blue Monkey.
Day 4 – Departure day - enjoy your breakfast and drive off with new nature memories.

We visited Tanda Tula for a few days as a group of six friends and I must admit that in every single way this lodge exceeded our expectations and added so much value to our lives.

Sitting in the eastern part of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Tanda Tula Field Camp is a distinctive safari experience unlike any other. Field Camp comprises 4 custom designed tents. The tents will give you a real safari experience yet so comfortable and cosy. Each tent has an en-suite open-air bush bathroom (hot water bucket shower and an eco loo) as well as a communal mess tent. The camp can accommodate between 4 and 8 people on an exclusive-use basis only. Guests are hosted by some of the safari industry’s well-trained guides who take them on an extraordinary journey of exploring the area and adventure.
