Woolly Bugger Farm Setting

Woolly Bugger Farm is located in the rural hamlet of Tonteldoos, a remote and secluded area of the South African highlands. Halfway between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park, Tonteldoos lies outside of the popular town of Dullstroom and straddles the Limpopo-Mpumalanga border. With its remoteness and challenging accessibility, the area offers untouched wilderness, tranquillity and a sense of security.

The farm offers outdoor activities to suit every member of the family, whether you prefer to relax in nature’s wonder or enjoy a rural adventure. Guests can partake in fishing in one of two fully-stocked dams, walking and mountain biking trails, bird and game watching, treasure hunts, stargazing and sundowners in the entertainment lapa, and much more.

Tranquil Stay

Total tranquility. As neat as a pin and all the amenities in the cottage one could require. Very comfortable bed and hot showers which work. Enjoyable walks up the mountain and around the trout dams. The fact that we could take our dog with was great!

Best time

It was a truly worthwhile stay. The location was great, the cottage we stayed in was delightful and clean and well laid out. We literally have no complaints except that we didn't stay long enough.

How to get there

There are two ways to get to the farm from JHB. Via Middelburg or Dullstroom The Middelburg route is a shorter dirt road by 5kms and the Dullstroom route is 40kms longer but a much better tar road. We will advise on the better route according to road conditions at the time of booking. Middelburg: Coming from JHB take the second Middelburg offramp after the Shell Ultra City. Its the offramp to the new Middleburg Mall. At the stop street turn left towards Middelburg. Entering Middelburg you reach a Tjunction with Cowen Ntuli Street. Turn right into Cowen Ntulie Street. Approximately 700 meters further there is a Caltex garage on your left and a Stofberg sign. Turn left into Meyer Street towards Stofberg on the R555. After about 63 km (just after the Blinkwater Butchery and Engen garage) there is a Stoffberg sign. You turn right here towards Roossenekal still on the R555. After 14.3km there is Tonteldoos sign. Turn right becomes dirt road. After 13.6 km you will reach a Tjunction, the sign says Draaikraal. Turn left After 1.7km there is a Woolly Bugger Sign sign as well as Wonder Waters sign. Turn left Follow the road for 6.2 km's you pass Rivermans Cabins on your left and the next farm on your right is Woolly Bugger Farm. Drive in and follow a sign saying 'this way'. The next intersection will have sign boards. Turn right to go to the farm house and pick up your keys if need be. Dullstroom: Head north on R540 toward Vletter St and you will enter Dullstroom Continue onto Lion Cachet St Continue onto Hugenoten St Turn left onto Idube St Take the 2nd left onto Blue Crane St and cross the railway track Turn right onto Bosman St (signs say to Dunkeld, Field and Stream etc.) and this will turn into a dirt road at Dunkeld. Continue on this road for 22km's. Pass Tonteldoos (Thirsty Walrus, Cat and Cow and Highside Tavern). Take the next left (follow signs to Woolly Bugger Farm, River Man Cabins and Wonder Waters) Follow the road for 6.2 km's you pass Rivermans Cabins on your left and the next farm on your right is Woolly Bugger Farm. Drive in and follow a sign saying 'this way'. The next intersection will have sign boards. Your keys are in the cottage.
