Fossil Hills is a scenic retreat located on Thornvilla Farm in the beautiful Breede Valley in the Western Cape. This idyllic property is a testament to three generations of the Naudé family's commitment to winemaking, dating back to 1950. Aside from being a traditional working wine farm, Fossil Hills is a sanctuary for those seeking a tranquil escape in nature. Fossil Hills offers a range of self-catering accommodations on the farm, including cosy two-sleeper cottages and spacious houses that can comfortably sleep up to sixteen guests.

Each unit has fully equipped kitchens, private outdoor braai facilities, KolKol wood-fired hot tubs and free use of mountain bikes. Fossil Hills is named after the abundance of ancient fossils that pepper the farm, including remnants of a prehistoric fish aged 355 million years ago. Here, you'll experience the unhurried rhythm of life on a working wine farm, surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas.

Situated in the heart of the Breede Valley in South Africa, between Robertson and McGregor, Fossil Hills forms part of the McGregor Winery. The farm yields grapes, plums, apricots, and vegetables, making it a lush oasis. The surrounding area is renowned for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, where the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve beckons birdwatchers, while fruit orchards, olive groves, and vineyards abound. The Boesmanskloof hiking trail from McGregor to Greyton is a must for adventurers.
