Overberg Cycling and Culinary Experiences

What to expect from Overberg Cycling and Culinary Experiences

Experience the beauty of the Overberg region in the Western Cape with customizable MTB Gravel and Single Track adventures, available in 6N7D, 3N4D, and 2N3D options, brought to you by The Wandering Dog Adventures. Choose from a selection of six picturesque routes spanning from Stellenbosch to the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Greyton to Riviersonderend, and beyond. Explore this beautiful stretch of land within the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom, where nature unfolds its unique and diverse wonders.

With an astonishing array of over 9,000 plant species, predominantly iconic fynbos, the Overberg region showcases the epitome of endemic beauty, stretching from majestic mountains to serene shores. Among its natural treasures, you'll find the Protea, South Africa's national flower, flourishing here. The term "fynbos" derives from the Dutch word "fijnosch," meaning "fine bush," perfectly encapsulating its delicate appearance.

What sets the Overberg apart is its remarkable Buchu fynbos diversity, with each species emitting distinctive fragrances that waft through the air, ranging from hints of citrus to notes of liquorice and garlic. Moreover, the Overberg is home to some of the most extensive and well-preserved Renosterveld fynbos habitats, showcasing four critically endangered vegetation types.

What we love

Being able to enjoy the combination of a low-impact mountain bike adventure and culinary experiences while getting to explore hidden gems in the Overberg. Supporting local chefs and wine farms not only promotes economic growth within the community but also allows visitors to savor unique foodie creations and wines that reflect the rich flavors and traditions of each region, fostering a deeper connection to local culture and flavors. Wandering Dog also supports The Bateleurs organisation – which provides its beneficiaries and the public with an aerial perspective of the environment, coordinating several thousand flights and diverse missions throughout South Africa and Africa in support of environmental issues.
