Amazing place
The staff ARE very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very neat, cosy and homely. I have NEVER slept so comfortably as I did at Grootvlei. They had heater blankets on the bed, a heater panel and a blow heater just in case. They provided extra pillows and blankets, to ensure you had a good stay. I would definitely recommend Grootvlei to friends and family.

Beautiful nature and a lovely beach! Wonderful place to rest! We had fresh seafood from the ocean to table and enjoyed wonderful walks on the beach and the breakfasts were a highlight every morning!! See you again soon!

The natural beauty of the West Coast provides a stunning backdrop for relaxation and adventure, whether you’re soaking up the ocean views, exploring the surrounding landscapes, or simply enjoying the serenity of the farm.
Designed for comfort and exclusivity, the Farm House features two spacious bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms. The open-plan living area flows into a fully equipped kitchen and an enclosed verandah with a built-in braai. Whether set up with single or king-size beds, the Farm House comfortably accommodates up to four adults, with additional daybeds available for children or extra guests. Thoughtfully designed and well-appointed, it offers a luxurious yet relaxed setting for an unforgettable West Coast getaway.
Setting Description
Surrounded by natural dune vegetation and stretching white beaches, the Farm House is a paradise for nature lovers. The area is home to diverse birdlife, small wildlife like duiker and other buck, and even marine life such as Heaviside’s dolphins, whales, and seals. Whether taking a sunrise walk along the shore or stargazing under the vast West Coast sky, guests will find themselves immersed in nature at every turn.
Fishing rods are available at reception for use around the farm’s ponds, while hiking, biking, birdwatching, and stargazing offer endless outdoor enjoyment. During the wildflower season (August to early October), the landscape bursts into colour, creating a breathtaking setting for nature walks. For those interested in history and culture, the nearby Sandveld Museum provides fascinating insights into the region’s heritage.

Depending on the rainfall and Mother Nature, the area is covered in colourful displays of wildflowers from July to early October. From here inland areas such as Clanwilliam, Van Rhynsdorp and Namaqualand can be visited, all within a few hour's drive from Lambert's Bay
*Visit Bird Island, an internationally famous breeding site for the Cape gannet colony, and see other bird species such as White-breasted cormorants, Common terns, Cape cormorants, Hartlaub's gulls and kelp gulls, as well as Cape fur seals
*Go fishing and cray fishing (Lambert's Bay is known as the crayfish mecca of South Africa; the annual Crayfish Festival takes place in April)
*Go on a boat trip for a close-up view of whales and Heaviside's dolphins
*Visit the Elandsberg Rooibos Tea Plantation (approx. 45km)
*Do a game drive and visit rock art sites at Donkieskraal potato and game farm (approx. 45km)

How to get there
Directions from the N7 (about 280 km)
* Take the N7 from Cape Town, passing the towns of Moorreesburg and Piketberg.
* About 57 km from Citrusdal, turn right towards Clanwilliam.
* Turn left at the Tjunction and continue on the R364 for about 60 km to reach Lamberts Bay.
* Continue on this road from Lamberts Bay towards Elandsbay and continue for about 6 km till you find Grootvlei Guest Farm on your left.
Directions from the R27 (about 260 km):
* Take the R27 from Cape Town, passing the towns of Langebaan, Velddrif, Dwarskersbos to Elandsbaai.
* At the Tjunction turn right and continue for + 6 km. Turn left towards Lambert's Bay and continue for 18 20 km to the next Tjunction. Turn left for another 20 km . Grootvlei Guest Farm on your right.
