Accommodation Description

Meno a Kwena offers a classic tented-camp safari experience with nine Meru-style en-suite tents, including two interleading family units ideal for small groups. Each tent is positioned for privacy and elevated views over the Boteti River, allowing guests to watch wildlife moving along the water from the comfort of their veranda. Interiors are comfortable and characterful, with canvas roll-up windows, wooden furnishings, woven textiles, rugs and practical features such as standing fans. The en-suite bathrooms include flush toilets and indoor showers, complemented by an outdoor shower enclosed by stone walls for a true bush-style experience. Sandy pathways lead to the main area, where a large open-sided marquee houses the lounge, bar, dining area and a small library. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, emphasising simplicity, comfort and a classic safari feel. A rock-built plunge pool overlooks the river, and various shaded decks, hammocks and seating areas offer space for quiet downtime between activities. Stays include all meals and selected beverages, served communally for a warm, sociable safari ambience.

Setting Description

Meno a Kwena sits atop a rocky cliff overlooking the Boteti River on the boundary of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The setting is dramatic: the river is the only reliable water source for many kilometres, drawing herds of zebra, wildebeest and elephants, particularly during the dry season. Guests often witness animals gathering at the water’s edge directly from camp, creating exceptional armchair game-viewing moments. The location bridges two contrasting ecosystems: the Kalahari Desert and the broader Okavango region, resulting in diverse landscapes and wildlife. Seasonal migrations pass through the area, and the shifting patterns of the river, floodplains and pans mean each period of the year offers a different natural spectacle. The camp’s remote character enhances the sense of wilderness, yet it remains accessible by road from Maun or by light-aircraft transfer. Evenings unfold around the firepit beneath expansive night skies, adding to the relaxed, timeless quality that defines the Meno a Kwena experience. The environment encourages you to slow down, observe and connect deeply with the rhythms of the desert and river.
