Mokolwane Camp

Accommodation Description

Mokolwane is an intimate, characterful camp set in a secluded corner of the Okavango Delta’s vast Xudum concession. The seven raised canvas tents sit on wooden stilts about three metres above the ground, creating an elevated vantage point over floodplains, seasonal pans and woodlands. Each tent features an en-suite bathroom, mosquito-netted beds, a private deck and open views that allow guests to watch wildlife from the comfort of their space. Interiors maintain a relaxed, natural aesthetic with light canvas, wooden finishes and practical furnishings suited to a true bush setting. A family tent is available for those travelling with children. The main camp area includes a lounge, dining deck, fire pit and a small swimming pool overlooking the plains. Mokolwane balances comfort with simplicity, offering a warm, unpretentious safari atmosphere where guiding, wildlife and landscape immersion take centre stage.

Setting Description

Surrounded by more than 180,000 hectares of protected wilderness, Mokolwane sits in one of the most wildlife-rich pockets of the southwestern Okavango Delta. The concession is renowned for its thriving leopard population, as well as regular sightings of lion, wild dog, hyena, elephant and a wide range of antelope. The habitat transitions between open floodplains, patches of riverine forest, palm-dotted islands and shallow channels - an ever-changing mosaic shaped by the Delta’s annual floods. Seasonal water levels bring shifting experiences: from mokoro and boating excursions when water is high, to expansive game drive territory when the land dries. With no neighbouring lodges and minimal vehicle activity, guests experience genuine isolation, unbroken horizons and a strong sense of true wilderness. Mokolwane’s position also allows exceptional birding and uninterrupted wildlife movement through the camp throughout the year.
