Accommodation Description
At Skybeds by Natural Selection you’ll stay in one of just three elevated platforms, each soaring five metres above the plains and perched above a busy waterhole. On the ground level is a cosy bathroom with flushing loo and changing area, then up to a second level for a quiet dressing space, and finally the top deck: your open-air bedroom, with a double bed draped in crisp white linen and a feather duvet, completely exposed to the African night sky. Blankets and even hot-water bottles are provided for the cooler evenings. Despite its minimalist elegance and rustic charm, the experience is far from your typical lodge—it’s immersive, wild and unforgettable. Children aged 16 + are welcome (with shared platforms for ages 12–15 when booked exclusively), though disabled access is not possible.
Setting Description
Skybeds is located within the 200,000-hectare Khwai Private Reserve in the north-east of the Okavango Delta, a prime wilderness area of Botswana. The raised platforms face directly over a waterhole where elephant, wild dog, lion, hyena and other species frequently appear. From April to October (the dry season) the scene becomes even more dramatic as wildlife concentrate around water and the skies above burst with stars. This is a stay where the wild things become your neighbours, and the traditional safari bedroom becomes the viewpoint.
