About Nhucha Villas
Nhucha Villas is a peaceful seaside retreat located on the Santa Maria peninsula in Mozambique. In the local language of Shangaan, ‘Nhucha’ translates to ‘Happy’ in English or ‘Feliz’ in Portuguese. Taking a break from busy daily life is essential, and the surrounding nature, stunning accommmodations and beautiful ocean views at Nhucha Villas make it easy to relax and unwind.
Each open-plan unit is fully equipped for self-catering ease, with a spacious kitchen, air-conditioning, two bedrooms with double and single beds, a bunk bed in the lounge, and view-drenched balcony with braai facilities. Indulge in various thrilling activities or simply unwind at the villa where time seems to pause.

Tucked away in the forests of the Machangulo Peninsula, with a stunning view overlooking Maputo Bay, Nhucha villas offers a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset behind Maputo. With the Indian Ocean on your doorstep, explore a variety of activities such as snorkeling, kayaking and leisurely strolls along the beach.
Hells Gate Channel, between Inhaca Island and Santa Maria, offers excellent surf fishing, with various species caught throughout the year. Dive into the unspoiled reefs scattered around Hell’s Gate and Inhaca for incredible diving experiences, and Ocean Echo SCUBA is nearby and eager to showcase the wonders of the underwater world.

Stunning bungalows with the most amazing view of Maputo Bay.The cabins are well equipped and maintained. The staff are super friendly. Carlos the manager is very helpful and will move heaven and earth to help you anyway he can. We definitely be back!

How to get there
By boat:
Boat trips run regularly from Maputo to Santa Maria. The trip takes between
40 minutes and 1hr 15 minutes depending on the weather and status of the
tides.
The Inhaca Ferry also runs 3 days per week and connections from Inhaca to
Santa Maria is available.
We can assist with arrangements in both instances
By car:
The road by car takes approximately 4.5 hours from Maputo.
You will enter the Elephant Reserve through the FUTI GATE which is
approximately 40kms south of Maputo and 30kms north of Ponta de Ouro
Entering through the FUTI GATE is vital as Google Maps is not reliable and
will take you on very bad roads.
Follow the power lines through the reserve until you reach Santa Maria and
then follow the signs to Nhucha Villas.
It is important to be aware that a reliable 4x4 is required and that cell
phone reception is sporadic throughout the reserve
