best campsite on our trip
Zambezi Mubala Campsite was our best campsite on our entire trip. The management at the lodge is friendly and helpful. Ablution facilities are outstanding, and the best of all, is to camp right next to the river.

right near the water
Very nice staff, great campsite, a lot of birds and being near to the water were the highlights of this accommodation for us. You always feel welcome and the people working there are just so friendly.
D3508 Kalimbeza Road, Upper Zambezi, Namibia, 20002
BY ROAD:
Zambezi Mubala Lodge is easily accessible from Windhoek via Rundu to Katima Mulilo, or from Johannesburg or Zimbabwe, via Kasane in Botswana.
From South Africa:
One may leave South Africa at the border post at Martins Drift or at other border posts, depending on which part of South Africa you are coming from. Enter Botswana to Francistown, then on to Nata and up to Kasane. From Kasane you travel through the Chobe National Parks transit road to Ngoma border post, which will bring you into Caprivi.
Once you enter Namibia at the Ngoma border post, you travel for 56km until you come to the sign for Zambezi Mubala Lodge, turn right at the sign, which also says Kalimbeza D3508. Follow the road until you find a signboard to the left that says Zambezi Mubala Lodge 5km.
At the time of writing the road into Caprivi is in excellent condition and connects directly with Katima Mulilo, the only town in Caprivi from where a road extends to the Zambian border.
From Namibia via Windhoek:
From Namibia, via Windhoek, an excellent tarred road north via Grootfontein turns east at Rundu and skirts the NamibiaAngola border crossing into Western Caprivi over a bridge spanning the Okavango River where one then enters the Western Caprivi National Park. At the check point one crosses the Kwando River at Kongola before arriving at Katima Mulilo (which means 'put out the fire' in Silozi the language of the local people). From Katima Mulilo, take the B8 road heading to the Ngoma border post. From this road you will take a left onto the Kalimbeza D3508 road, and follow it until you see the next sign for Zambezi Mubala Lodge.
The road from Rundu to Katima Mulilo is tarred and in good condition all the way. The journey from Windhoek to Katima may take upwards of 15 hours.
Road condition:
The road from the South African border to Lusaka in Zambia is in excellent condition. PLEASE BEWARE OF TRAVELLING AT NIGHT because of wandering cattle and GAME on the ROADS.
