Tranquil Retreat Near Solitaire
Camp Gecko provided a peaceful escape with easy access to nearby attractions. The private barbecue area was a highlight.
Camp Gecko's tented chalets offer an immersive glamping experience in the heart of Namibia's savannah. The camp features seven uniquely designed chalets, each spaced approximately 30 meters apart to ensure privacy and tranquillity. Guests can choose between two-story Hide-Away tents and single-level Bush tents, both offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and a nearby waterhole. Each chalet is equipped with comfortable beds, private en-suite bathrooms, and a personal barbecue area. While the chalets are not self-catering, they provide an intimate connection with nature without compromising on comfort.
Nestled directly below the spectacular Spreetshoogte Pass and close to the settlement of Solitaire, Camp Gecko is ideally situated within the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The camp's location offers guests breathtaking panoramic views of the savannah plains and the Naukluft Mountains. The area is renowned for its diverse wildlife and is in proximity to several of Namibia's major tourist attractions, making it a perfect base for exploration and adventure.

From Hosea Kutako International Airport:
1. Head northeast for 56 m.
2. Turn right and continue for 190 m.
3. take the 2nd exit at the roundabout and continue for 1.1 km.
4. Turn right onto B6 and drive for 38.6 km.
5. Turn left onto Sam Nujoma Dr and proceed for 450 m.
6. Turn left onto Michaelis Street and continue for 40 m.
7. Turn right and drive for 350 m.
8. Turn right onto Ebony St/Hamutenya Wanahepo Ndadi St and continue to follow Hamutenya Wanahepo Ndadi St for 2.8 km.
9. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Robert Mugabe Ave and drive for 600 m.
10. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on Robert Mugabe Ave for 600 m.
11. Turn right onto the ramp to Western Bypass and continue for 1.5 km.
12. Keep right to continue on Western Bypass for 3.3 km.
13. Take the exit towards C26 and continue for 1.0 km.
14. Turn left onto C26 and drive for 101 km.
15. Turn left onto D1265 and continue for 30.0 km.
16. Merge onto D1261 and drive for 22.7 km.
17. Turn right onto D1275 and continue for 31.0 km.
18. Turn right and continue for 700 m. The destination will be on the right at Camp Gecko Tented Camp and Campsite.

From Windhoek via Rehoboth (220 km):
Drive on the B1 toward REHOBOTH, pass Rehoboth and 4 km after Rehoboth, turn off to the right at the sign 'KLEIN AUB'.
Drive on the C 24 until you see the sign 'NAUCHAS/SOLITAIRE', then turn to the right on the D 1261.
After NAUCHAS, turn off to the right on the D 1275, which takes you down SPREETSHOOGTE PASS.
Approximately 15 km from the pass, on the righthand side, you will find the sign of Camp Gecko.
From Swakopmund (280 km):
Drive on the B2 to WALVIS BAY. At the circle, turn off on the C14. Stay on the C14 till the sign NAUCHAS is on the left, and turn off on the D 1275.
Drive on the D1275 until you reach the Camp Gecko sign on the left.
From Maltahöhe (200KM):
Drive on the C14 in the direction of SOLITAIRE.
After Solitaire approximately 9 km, turn off on the righthand side on the D 1275 for 20 km to reach the sign of Camp Gecko.
PLEASE BE SURE THAT THE GAS TANK OF YOUR CAR IS FILLED BEFORE LEAVING FROM WINDHOEK or WALVISBAY AS THE NEAREST GAS STATION IS AT SOLITAIRE
While the chalets are not self-catering, meals can be arranged upon request. It's advisable to contact the camp in advance to discuss dining options.
The chalets do not have electricity. Guests are encouraged to embrace the off-grid experience, and the camp provides essential lighting and amenities to ensure comfort.
Guests should bring personal items, insect repellent, and any specific necessities. While linens and towels are provided, it's recommended to bring additional comforts as desired.
