Exceptional place to stay
The campsite is really well thought of and the remoteness of it makes it extremely magical. An experience like no other. We did the safari tour as well and the guide was very helpful and happy to answer all of our questions. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience
The views and the scenery are simply magnificent and my only regret was that we only had 2 nights at this magical place. The stars at night a breathtaking and once you switch off the lights at your camp, there is no artificial light.

Setting Description
The campsite is tucked away in the NamibRand Nature Reserve, offering breathtaking views of the ancient desert landscape, which stretches across vast plains and towering dunes. The setting provides a peaceful retreat, with no other guests nearby, allowing for complete immersion in nature. Here, the only sounds are those of the wind and wildlife, making it an ideal spot for stargazing and relaxation.
Guests can explore the desert through various activities such as 4x4 dune drives, educational walks with a guide, and dune boarding. The reserve is also perfect for birdwatching, with a waterhole attracting a variety of bird species and wildlife, including oryx, springbok, zebra, and possibly giraffe. How to get there
The NamibRand Family Hideout is about 5 hours’ drive southwest of Windhoek, 110 km south of Sossusvlei. You can either drive west from Maltahöhe (C14 then C19 via the Tsaris pass, left onto the D827), north from Aus/Helmeringhausen (D407/C27 or D707) through Betta, or south from Sesriem to the D826/C27, then take the Tok Tokkie Trails and NaDEET turnoff (400 m north of the intersection with the D827). After leaving the main road, drive 11 km through 2 gates, then turn left directly after the second gate, stop at our reception on your left. Follow the signs – after 5 km, the house will be directly left of you. Veer to the right at the Campsite sign towards the dunes to the campsites, another 1 to 1.5 km.
