  2. Eastern Cape
  3. Sunshine Coast

Accommodation Description

Driftwoods Eco Beach Bush Retreat is a fully off-grid, solar-powered villa set within a privately-owned nature reserve on the Eastern Cape coast. Accommodating up to six guests across three en-suite bedrooms — one with a queen bed and two with double beds — the villa is designed for easy togetherness and unhurried privacy in equal measure. The open-plan living and kitchen area is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and everything needed for self-catering comfort. A spacious balcony with outdoor seating and braai facilities extends the living space into the open air, with sea views and the sounds of the surrounding reserve as the backdrop. Uncapped fibre WiFi and a Smart TV are available throughout. What truly sets Driftwoods apart is the combination of luxurious comfort and a genuine off-grid setting — a rare combination on this stretch of the South African coastline.

Setting Description

Driftwoods sits within a private nature reserve midway between Paradise Beach and St Francis Bay, on the Eastern Cape's celebrated Sunshine Coast. The villa is a short walk from a secluded, largely untouched beach — part of a long stretch of Indian Ocean coastline that reaches all the way to the Kromme River. The broader area is rich with wildlife, coastal fynbos and estuarine birdlife, with otters, small antelope and a variety of bird species regularly spotted in and around the reserve. Jeffreys Bay — one of the world's most legendary surf destinations — lies within easy reach, as does the Seekoeirivier Nature Reserve. Between July and December, the Eastern Cape coastline offers exceptional whale watching. Note that an off-road vehicle is required to reach the property, which adds to the sense of arrival and escape. This is a genuinely secluded corner of the coast.
