Ideal Baviaans base
Perfect stop along the Baviaanskloof trail. Hot showers and fresh water a big plus.
Duiwekloof Campsite offers a peaceful and shaded camping experience in the rugged beauty of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. Surrounded by towering cliffs and lush indigenous bush, the campsite consists of ten spacious, demarcated sites set beneath a canopy of trees alongside a clear mountain stream. Sites are generously spaced to ensure privacy and tranquillity, with the sound of flowing water and birdsong as your natural soundtrack.
Each campsite is equipped with a private braai area, and campers have access to clean, well-maintained ablution blocks with hot-water showers and flush toilets. While the site is off-grid, there are solar-powered lights in shared areas, and filtered mountain water is available. Whether you’re seeking solitude or a nature-centric base to explore the reserve, Duiwekloof Campsite provides an authentic, back-to-nature experience in one of South Africa’s most dramatic natural landscapes.
The campsite is nestled in a kloof within the greater Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its biodiversity and unspoiled wilderness. It's an ideal location for nature lovers, hikers, and adventure seekers. Guests can access numerous walking trails, explore natural rock pools, and enjoy rich birdlife right from their tents. Despite its remoteness, Duiwekloof Campsite is accessible by vehicle and offers a welcome rest stop for those travelling the iconic Baviaanskloof route. With no mobile signal or Wi-Fi, it’s the perfect place for digital detox and full immersion in nature.
