How to get there

Duiwekloof is easy to reach and a pleasant trip from all directions.  Just follow the directions below carefully. From Oudtshoorn Travel 35km North to De Rust.  Just past the town take a right turn to Willowmore. Continue on this road (about 60km) until you reach a Tjunction (Uniondale Willowmore).  Turn left to Willowmore.  About 5km further on look for the sign 'Vaalwater / Baviaanskloof'. Turn right into the dirt road.  Approx 17km along this road there is a Tjunction. Take a left (Right goes to Vaalwater).  After about 15 km find the turnoff to Baviaanskloof on the right.  Duiwekloof is approx 17km down this road, about 3km beyond Baviaanskloof Info & the Makadaatsgrot on the righthand side.  The entrance is well signposted. From Knysna / George Either take the tar road through George & proceed via the Outeniqua pass to Uniondale.  Take the Vaalwater / Baviaanskloof turnoff on the road to Willowmore.  Or take the road to Avontuur through the settlement of Nekkies on the Plett side of town.  From Nekkies proceed over the Prins Albert pass ( off road vehicle recommended) through Avontuur, past Uniondale then as from George. From Port Elizabeth Either via the Langkloof to Uniondale & as with George or via Patensie into the East end of the kloof (4x4 vehicle required) The trip is 2 hours from Oudtshoorn; 3 hours from Knysna, 4 hours from PE via the Langkloof & 5 hours via Patensie. From Cape Town Proceed via Route 62 from Worcester to Oudtshoorn then as above (preferred) or via the N2 as from Knysna / George From Johannesburg / Bloemfontein  Take N1 to Colesberg then take the N9 through GraafReinet to Willowmore. Turn off to Baviaanskloof 3km beyond the town (approx 65kms to the gate).
