We absolutely love it here at Swell and honestly think this by far the best place to stay in Mdumbi. It’s literally 5 minutes from the beach, quiet, beautiful, and the rondawels are so well built and decorated. We can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful accomodation and surroundings. Super friendly and helpful staff. This was my 3rd time to visit the Mdumbi, and 1st time Swell Eco Lodge, and I will be back for sure!

Please note, the lodge is off the beaten track and you will travel on gravel road to get to the lodge. Guests do not need a 4x4 but a vehicle with higher clearance is recommended and smaller vehicles will have to take it very slow on the gravel. Guests are welcome to enquire about the road conditions before arrival.
Head east and proceed for 170 m;
Turn left onto Settlers Way/R72 and continue to follow R72 for 8 km;
Continue straight onto Fleet St/R72 for 220 m;
Turn left onto Cambridge St and proceed for 800 m;
Cambridge St turns right and becomes Commercial Rd, continue for 1 km;
Turn left onto R72 and proceed for 1.4 km;
Keep right to continue on N E Expy/R72, follow signs for Beacon Bay/N2/N6 and proceed for 4 km;
Turn right to merge onto N2 toward Mthatha and continue for 217.4 km;
Turn left onto Stanford Terrace and proceed for 700 m;
Turn right onto Sutherland St/R61 and continue to follow R61 for 6.7 km;
Take exit 853 towards Ngqeleni/Mdeni and proceed for 550 m;
Turn right towards Ngqeleni and proceed for 13.5 km;
Turn right and proceed for 26 km to reach Ayafika H/F/G Store on your left;
Continue east for 15.2 km;
Turn left and proceed for 450 m;
Turn right and proceed for 2 km;
Turn left and proceed for 2.9 km;
Turn left and proceed for 5.7 km;
Turn right onto Swell Eco Lodge Rd and follow the road to reach Swell Eco Lodge.
