Accommodation Description

Woodbury Tented Camp at Amakhala Game Reserve provides a scenic Big 5 glamping safari on the Bushman’s River in the Eastern Cape. This intimate bush camp is tucked away in a secluded hillside thicket overlooking the ancient floodplain of the Bushman's River, offering guests a rare intimacy with nature. Operated by the Gush family, who have lived on the land for five generations, the camp offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring a memorable African safari experience. 

The camp features ten comfortable en-suite tents on raised bases, each with its own private deck. Each tent is equipped with hot running water, the option of king-size or twin beds, and electric blankets for cosy evenings. Two family tents are available, connecting via a balcony, allowing families to enjoy the African bush together. The tents are designed to provide a comfortable and immersive experience, blending the thrill of safari with the comforts of home.

The main camp area includes a thatch-and-canvas dining and lounge area with an expansive deck overlooking Greater Addo. Guests can often see a variety of game species such as zebra, giraffe, buffalo, and elephant from the deck, while the haunting cry of fish eagles echoes across the valley. The camp's location provides a perfect blend of comfort and adventure, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the African bush.
