Located within the expansive Big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve, NAKO Safari Lodge offers a luxury full-board wildlife retreat in northern Gauteng. Just an hour from Johannesburg and 45 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport, it combines modern comfort with the thrill of Big 5 game viewing.
NAKO Safari Lodge features five luxurious suites, including two single suites and three family suites, all with air-conditioning and modern amenities. Guests can unwind in the lodge’s main area, which includes a cosy fireplace, a photographic studio, and a covered patio overlooking a heated pool and waterhole.
Setting Description
Situated in the northern Dinokeng Game Reserve, the lodge sits within the Pride of Africa Nature Reserve and overlooks a waterhole frequented by wildlife. Its design blends seamlessly with the bushveld, offering panoramic views and a peaceful connection to nature.
Guests can enjoy guided Big 5 game drives, bush walks and relaxing massages in their suite or on the sundeck. Children’s activities include a dedicated games room with a tennis table and pool table. Exactly the getaway we needed!
The attention we received from the staff was the most positive, they were so welcome, friendly and warm, the food prepared for us was utterly delicious, we enjoyed every single dish. The place offers great views of the animals, is quiet, cosy and very tranquil, just what we needed.

How to get there
From O.R. Tambo International Airport:
Head south on O.R. Tambo Airport Rd and proceed for 1 km;
Turn left onto the R21 N ramp to City Center/Kempton Park/Pretoria and proceed for 800 m;
Merge onto R21 and proceed for 35.5 km;
Take exit 134 for N1 N toward Polokwane and proceed for 2.2 km;
Merge onto N1 and proceed for 48.3 km;
Take exit 183 toward Boekenhoutkloof/Hammanskraal/R101 and proceed for 550 m;
Turn right onto R734 toward Boekenhoutkloof and proceed for 350 m;
Turn left and proceed for 10.7 km;
Enter the Tau Gate at Dinokeng Game Reserve and follow the road for 12 km;
Turn left into the main gate of Pride of Africa Nature Reserve;
Be greeted by the gate attendant and follow the clearly visible signs to NAKO Safari Lodge.

Yes. NAKO Safari Lodge is booked on a full board basis which includes 3 meals, teas and coffees, snacks and two game drives, but excludes drinks.
If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total. If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit. If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit. If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit.
NAKO can provide a road transfer service between Johannesburg, and NAKO Safari Lodge: Transfers are by luxury air-conditioned vehicle and include, bottled water. Travel time is approximately 1 hour.
Children of all ages welcome. Please note - Children aged 4yrs and younger are not permitted on game drives unless the lodge
has been booked exclusively.
