Above and beyond expectations
The sightings were absolutely breathtaking and intimate. The staff is welcoming, caring and committed to making your stay perfect. The food is delicious. It was magical and the perfect memory. Will always remember fondly, both the location, the amazing staff and the lodge.
Experience a luxury full-board safari at Makumu Private Game Lodge within the Greater Kruger’s Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. Set in the heart of the expansive 60,000-hectare reserve, Makumu offers an intimate oasis surrounded by the unspoiled African bushveld. The lodge, embodying the realisation of founder Stefan Breuer's childhood dream, envelops guests in the warmth, earthy colours, and rich textures of Africa.
Makumu Private Game Lodge offers six luxurious suites, each thoughtfully designed to provide guests with unparalleled comfort and a deep connection to the African wilderness. The suites are divided into two categories: the expansive King Suites and the spacious Impi Suites. Each suite features a private wooden deck offering stunning views of the bushveld, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the natural beauty that surrounds them.
Perched high above the Leopard River in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, Makumu provides breathtaking vistas of the plains beyond. The lodge's unique floating boma, an iconic feature, serves as a stunning location for candlelit dinners, stargazing, and sharing stories around the campfire. This harmonious blend of luxury and nature creates an environment where guests can relax and rejuvenate, enveloped by the ancient spirit of the African wilderness.
Twice-daily game drives offer the opportunity to encounter the Big Five and other wildlife within the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. For photography enthusiasts, the lodge features a ground-level photographic bunker, nicknamed 'iThumbela,' meaning 'place to hide' in Shangaan. This unique facility allows guests to capture spectacular, eye-level shots of animals visiting the nearby water pan. Additionally, guided bush walks, starlit dinners, and cultural experiences promise a memorable stay.
