Accommodation Description

nThambo Tree Camp is an intimate safari escape in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger, offering lovers of the African bush a peaceful retreat in nature. Experience the magic of an authentic Safari, without the crowds, at nThambo Tree Camp and stay in unique accommodation in the heart of the Klaserie – a Big 5 reserve sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park.

nThambo Tree Camp features just five wooden chalets on raised stilts, eye-level with the trees, each with tented sides for an iconic bushveld look and feel. Guests can experience elevated views of the reserve from their private wooden balconies, extending all the way to the Drakensberg mountains. The main area has a bar and dining area that leads through to a boma, and a swimming pool with a deck area. Elephants are regular visitors to the splash pool during the drier winter months, and often create quite the spectacle for onlookers!

Setting Description

Considered one of the largest and oldest safari areas in South Africa, the Greater Kruger region is made up of Kruger National Park, Sabi Sands, Timbavati Game Reserve, as well as the surrounding private game reserves. The entire area is one of the best places to view free-roaming game, experience guided walks and explore some of the wildest areas in the country.

With over 40 mammal species and as many as 360 bird species, the game-viewing experience in Klaserie Private Game Reserve is outstanding. The intimate size and seclusion of nThambo Tree Camp means that activities are flexible and exciting night drives can also be conducted. The camp is about an hour’s drive from the town of Hoedspruit, which is the supply capital of the Greater Kruger.
