Giants Cup Wilderness Reserve is a premier destination in the heart of the Drakensberg Mountains of KwaZulu Natal, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and comfort. Named after the iconic Giants Cup, a natural rock formation that dominates the skyline, the reserve provides an unparalleled escape into nature, perfect for relaxation, exploration and rejuvenation.
The reserve offers charming self-catering units, each thoughtfully appointed to ensure maximum comfort and privacy and situated on the edge of a trout-filled lake. Each cottage features spacious living areas, modern amenities, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, providing an ideal retreat after a day of exploration.
Giants Cup Wilderness Reserve is considered the premier wild-trout flyfishing destination in Southern Africa, and is gome to prolific wildlife and waterfowl. With the Umzimkulwana river and a lake full of wild-spawning rainbow and brown trout, Giants Cup Wilderness sets the standard for authentic wilderness angling in spectacular mountain scenery.
There are also numerous hiking trails that wind through the reserve, providing opportunities to explore the stunning landscapes and observe wildlife in their natural habitat. For those seeking relaxation, the tranquil surroundings offer the perfect setting for leisurely walks or simply unwinding among nature with a backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains.

Drakensberg Gardens Road, Goschen Farm, Underberg, 3257
Take N3 JHB/DBN . At Howick (Howick South) turn onto the R617 (local route no99) and follow that through to Bulwer till Underberg.
Go past the Underberg Hotel on the left, .... about 3km out of town you will see a bridge over the Umzimkulu river. BEFORE THE BRIDGE turn right onto DRAKENSBERG GARDENS RESORTS road .
Follow that for exactly 11km. At the 11km mark you will see a small green sign reading GOSCHEN. Turn onto the GOSCHEN servitude, keep left and follow the track till the electric fence. Pass through that and follow the road through the pines till the farmhouse.
I would like to mention that the R617 passes through tribal trust land and often there is livestock in the road. Accordingly, one should drive with care.
Also, the last 2km are dirt and not suitable for low vehicles.
This property can only be accessed with a high-rise vehicle.
