Hawklee Country House offers a tranquil retreat on 17 acres along the Lions River in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The property features six thatched cottages—five river-facing units with private spa baths and one garden cottage designed for accessibility. Each cottage includes en-suite bathrooms, private entrances, and amenities such as microwaves, toasters, crockery, cutlery, bar fridges, and heaters. Guests can enjoy breakfast in the dining room or in-room, and dinner is available upon request. The communal braai area provides an additional option for self-catering.

Situated 13 km from Nottingham Road, Hawklee Country House is ideally located for exploring the Midlands Meander, known for its arts, crafts, and culinary delights. How to get there

From the N3 take the Nottingham Road (after Mooi River Toll Plaza) turn off on the left, at top of the off ramp turn right and follow the road for about 8km's on your left you will see The Junction Complex, turn right, travel under the railway line and take a left into Fort Nottingham Road. (Engen Garage and Spar will be on your right) Continue for approximately 10kms on the tar road, you will see the Hawklee Country House sign, the road becomes a gravel road. Continue for about 3kms on the gravel road. The entrance to Hawklee is the 2nd green gate to your left after you have crossed the river.
From Durban King Shaka Airport
Take The N3 to Durban, then at the intersection take Pietermaritzburg, carry on the N3 through Pietermaritzburg until the Nottingham Road turn off
From the N3 take the Nottingham Road turn off on the left, at top of the off ramp turn right and follow the road for about 8km's on your left you will see The Junction Complex, turn right, travel under the railway line and take a left into Fort Nottingham Road. Procedure for Arrival of guests to book in:
- Guest arrives in their vehicle & park in parking area.
- The guest remains in their vehicle until a Hawklee Country House (HCH) staff member invites them in and leads them to the new reception area.
- The guest/s will the be shown to their chalet/s & given all the required.
- Cardholder & ID/Passport is required at check-in / preferably prior to arrival
