Accommodation Description

Each of the five self‑catering chalets at Nkonkoni comfortably accommodates up to four guests and features a thatched roof blending with the safari bush aesthetic. Inside, find a full kitchen - including fridge‑freezer, mini‑stove and oven - with cutlery, crockery, linens and towels provided. Add to that air‑conditioning and the choice of a relaxing spa bath or elegant Victorian bath in a private bathroom, with a separate toilet and outdoor shower for true al fresco charm.

Step onto a timber veranda overlooking tranquil bush vistas and enjoy meals or sundowners around your private boma firepit with braai facilities. Access to a communal splash pool, central boma with DStv, shared firepit, and extra cooking stations ensures a sociable yet spacious guest experience.

Setting Description

Positioned on the southern shore of the expansive Pongolapoort (Jozini) Dam, each chalet enjoys a prime location within a declared bird sanctuary beneath the Lebombo Mountains. Wildlife sightings are part of daily life - expect hippos and crocodiles on the water’s edge and frequent visits from elephants, buffalo and a diverse range of antelope. The camp supports catch‑and‑release tiger fishing from both boat and shore, part of a broader aquatic ecosystem unique to this dam. Birdlife is spectacular, with over 400 species, from osprey to pink‑backed pelican, seen in and around the reserve. The surrounding savannah woodlands and dam backdrop offer a serene, immersive retreat into Zululand’s wild heart.
