Riverman Cabin Country Lodge offers a lovely, laid-back retreat for couples, families and furry friends near Dullstroom in the scenic Mpumalanga Highlands. This peaceful hideaway is perfect for those seeking a break from the rush of daily life, surrounded by rolling hills, tranquil dams and fresh country air.
The lodge features seven pet-friendly cottages and cabins, each uniquely decorated with rustic elegance. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped for a homely self-catering experience, with cosy indoor fireplaces and private external braai areas. Options range from intimate two-sleeper cabins like the Dragonfly Cabin to larger accommodations such as the Rainbow Cottage, which sleeps up to ten guests.
Setting Description
Located approximately 30 km northeast of Dullstroom, Riverman Cabin Country Lodge provides a serene escape from city life. The farm is home to friendly donkeys that guests can interact with, adding to the charm of the countryside experience. The tranquil environment is perfect for relaxation, with opportunities to enjoy the fresh country air and wide-open spaces.
Guests can enjoy a variety of on-site activities, including a driving range, hiking through the woods on the Wattle walk, mountain biking, bird watching and fishing in the bass and fly-fishing dams. For pet owners, there's a dedicated doggie dam where dogs can enjoy a swim. Evenings can be spent under the stars in the equipped boma area, making for a memorable outdoor experience.

How to get there
Drive to Dullstroom via the N4. On entering the town of Dullstroom, pass the first 4 way stop. Turn left into Mare (now Idube) street and proceed north on a brick paved road. Carry on straight until it ends in a T junction. Turn left and cross the railway line.
At the next T junction/(turn to the right) – look for the Tonteldoos sign and follow the road to Dunkeld Country Estate. Past Dunkeld Country Estate the tar road ends and becomes gravel. Follow this road for a further ±22 kilometers, until you get the The Hungry Otter on your right.
From Hungry Otter, drive another 1 km where you will get a gravel road turning left – follow this road for ±6 kilometers. Riverman Cabin is on your left – welcome!
