Incredible place
We stayed at the lodge for 3 days. This is beautifully located. The service and friendliness is excellent. Great game drives. If you are looking for a little paradise, you definitely have to come to this place. We'll definitely be back!
!Xaus Lodge (pronounced 'kaus') is a full-board wildlife escape surrounded by the vast red dunes of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape. Established to promote responsible tourism and cultural preservation, the lodge is owned by the ‡Khomani San and Mier communities. It offers guests an authentic experience deeply rooted in the rich heritage of the region.
The lodge features 12 thatched chalets, each designed to reflect the traditional dwellings of the local communities. Each chalet offers a private deck overlooking a vast salt pan, providing guests with uninterrupted views of the Kalahari landscape and its abundant wildlife. The communal areas include a cosy lounge, dining area, and a refreshing swimming pool, all designed to ensure comfort while maintaining harmony with the natural surroundings.
Tucked away within the 91st dune of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, !Xaus Lodge is surrounded by a unique semi-desert of grass-covered dune systems in hues of yellow-brown, pink, and red. This remote location offers guests an unparalleled opportunity to disconnect from the modern world and immerse themselves in the tranquillity of the Kalahari Desert. Guests at !Xaus Lodge can engage in a variety of activities that showcase the natural beauty and cultural richness of the area.
Morning and evening game drives provide sightings of the park's diverse wildlife, including the iconic gemsbok, springbok, and predators like lions and cheetahs. Guided wilderness walks offer insights into the unique flora and fauna of the Kalahari, while visits to the nearby cultural village allow guests to interact with local artisans and learn about the traditions of the ‡Khomani San people. Additionally, the lodge's location within an International Dark Sky Sanctuary provides exceptional stargazing opportunities, allowing guests to marvel at the pristine night skies of the Kalahari.
