Accommodation Description

Hideouts at Summerplace Game Reserve is a collection of ten ultra-luxury glamping tents designed for two guests each. Glass doors, generous windows and a covered stoep frame views of the surrounding Waterberg bushveld, while a private wood-fired hot tub and outdoor firepit create an intimate bush base after a day out on the trails. Inside, each spacious tent offers a king-size bed that can convert to twins, quality cotton linen, a compact kitchenette with bar fridge, tea-and-coffee facilities and a small dining nook. The en-suite bathroom includes twin basins and a shower with both indoor and outdoor access. Daily servicing keeps everything immaculate, and parking is right by your tent. With no TV or in-tent WiFi, stays feel refreshingly unplugged. Various meal options can be booked - meals are enjoyed at the nearby Summerplace Restaurant, making Hideouts ideal for couples, friends or small groups booking a cluster of tents for an easy, catered escape.

Setting Description

Hideouts sits within the 3 500-hectare Summerplace Game Reserve in the malaria-free Waterberg region of Limpopo, a comfortable 2.5–3 hour drive from Johannesburg. The reserve forms part of the Waterberg Biosphere, with rolling hills, rocky outcrops and classic bushveld that feels wonderfully remote despite the easy access. Guests staying in the Hideouts have full use of Summerplace’s facilities, including the hub with restaurant, bar, swimming pool, WiFi and tennis court.

The area is recognised as one of South Africa’s leading mountain-biking destinations, offering over 160 km of purpose-built singletrack and farm roads, plus marked routes for trail running and walking. Game drives and guided walks reveal plains game, giraffe and abundant birdlife, while evenings bring big skies, bright stars and the sound of jackals in the distance – a proper bush escape that feels far from city life without requiring a long travel day.
