Accommodation Description

Summerview is a five-bedroom private villa perched on an elevated position within Summerplace Game Reserve, delivering one of the most striking vistas in the Waterberg. The main house holds four spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms, with an additional en-suite garden cottage for extra guests or added privacy. At its heart, an open-plan kitchen and lounge spill out onto a wide stoep — the kind of space that naturally draws people together for long, unhurried meals or evenings around the fire. Outside, an impressive 18-metre swimming pool runs along the edge of the garden, while a wood-fired Kol Kol hot tub offers a more intimate setting for stargazing. Beds are dressed in 100% cotton linen, rooms are finished with care, and the villa accommodates up to 12 guests. Pets are welcome to join.

Setting Description

Summerplace Game Reserve is a 3,487-hectare private reserve situated within the UNESCO-accredited Waterberg Biosphere Reserve near Vaalwater, Limpopo. The landscape is defined by elevated bushveld, rocky ridgelines, and an exceptional diversity of tree species — including record-holding specimens logged in the National Register of Big Trees of South Africa. Wildlife here is genuinely wild: roan antelope, tsessebe, sable, giraffe, eland, and over 150 recorded bird species roam the reserve. Guests at Summerview can explore freely via an extensive network of signed hiking and mountain biking trails without a guide, or join game drives at sunset. The reserve's on-site restaurant, led by award-winning chef Dylan Jonsson, serves breakfast, lunch, wood-fired pizza and a prebooked three-course dinner. Vaalwater town is a short drive away, and the reserve sits approximately 270km from Johannesburg.
