Accommodation Description

Situated on a 220-hectare property in the Klein Karoo, Africa Inn offers five self-catering chalets that deliver generous private space and accommodation. Each unit features a king-sized bed (or twin option), a sofa bed, a kitchenette equipped with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, and a living/dining area. A standout feature of many units is the private splash or plunge pool, veranda with braai facilities and the uninterrupted views across the valley and Swartberg Mountains. The chalets are set sufficiently apart to ensure privacy and a sense of seclusion, with quiet evenings under star-filled skies. The emphasis is on comfort in a natural setting rather than high-luxury polish.

Setting Description

Africa Inn lies approximately 8-10 km outside Oudtshoorn, off the R328 road that leads to the Cango Caves, nestled between the Outeniqua and Swartberg mountain ranges. The surrounding terrain is classic Karoo veld, marked by succulent vegetation, rock outcrops and wide vistas. Guests enjoy views across the Schoemanshoek Valley into the Swartberg range, ideal for early-morning sunrises or late-afternoon light. On-site, there are walking and mountain-biking trails (circa 12 km) that wander through the property’s natural terrain. Though remote, it remains comfortably accessible from Oudtshoorn, and local attractions like game lodges and cave tours are within easy reach. The setting combines the feeling of escape with access to the Kim Karoo’s highlights.
