A wonderful, relaxing stay
It is the perfect place to spend a couple nights completely disconnecting from the world and lounging around. Loved the attention to detail, the gorgeous canopy bed, the chicness of the finishes, the equipped kitchen, the natural eco pool and the views of the mountains and horses grazing. Also, the outdoor bath really completed the picture. Would highly recommend to anyone popping into McGregor.

The Laughing Dove, a family- and pet-friendly villa, sleeps four guests and includes two en-suite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private pool. The premises of Lucky Crane Villas are situated in McGregor, Western Cape Province. The Villas are in walking distance from all restaurants, shops and facilities in McGregor. In a 15 minutes drive one can reach Robertson on the popular Route 62 and the Robertson golf course. The closest supermarket SPAR is located on Robertson's main road, Voortrekker Road.
McGregor lies at the foot of the Riviersonderend mountains, less than two hours’ drive from Cape Town. McGregor has managed to retain the character and charm of a heritage village with whitewashed cottages and gardens left largely to their own devices, whilst developing a quirky and bohemian atmosphere on Voortrekker Road with its eateries, wine bars and offers of live music.

How to get there
COMING FROM OUDTSHOORN /GARDEN ROUTE VIA ROUTE 62: Follow the signs for R62, all the way to Montagu. Pass Montagu and continue to Ashton. The R62 becomes the R60 just before Ashton. Continue on the R60, pass Ashton and follow the road on to Robertson. At the roundabout, continue straight onto Voortrekker Road. Watch out the speed traps! Turn LEFT at the McGregor sign and follow the road. McGregor is about 22km/15mins drive away from this turnoff. As you enter the village, you will be on Voortrekker Street travel on towards the mountain, cross over Barry, Kantoor, Tindall and Church Streets at the next crossroad at Bree Street turn RIGHT here and follow the road till its end, there turn LEFT into DARLING STREET.
COMING FROM GARDEN ROUTE VIA MOSSEL BAY: Follow N2 to Swellendam, R60(N15) to Ashton, continue on R60 towards Robertson. At the roundabout, continue straight onto Voortrekker Road. Watch out the speed traps! Turn LEFT at the McGregor sign and follow the road. McGregor is about 22km/15mins drive away from this turnoff. As you enter the village, you will be on Voortrekker Street travel on towards the mountain, cross over Barry, Kantoor, Tindall and Church Streets at the next crossroad at Bree Street turn RIGHT here and follow the road till its end, there turn LEFT into DARLING STREET. You will find Villas 2 and 4 on DARLING STREET 3 and Villa 6 on DARLING STREET 7 on your RIGHT HAND SIDE.
COMING FROM CAPE TOWN / AIRPORT: Drive on the N1 directions Paarl, then follow signs for Worcester and drive through the Huguenot Tunnel. In Worcester, follow signs for Robertson and take the R60. As you enter Robertson, you will see a Shell Fuel Station on your LEFT. Watch out the speed traps in Robertson! A few hundred meters further on, you’ll see the sign to McGregor, turn off RIGHT here and follow the road. McGregor is about 22km/15mins drive away from this turnoff. As you enter the village, you will be on Voortrekker Street travel on towards the mountain, cross over Barry, Kantoor, Tindall and Church Streets at the next crossroad at Bree Street turn RIGHT here and follow the road till its end, there turn LEFT into DARLING STREET.
