Accommodation Description

Melkhout Guest Farm offers self-catering cottages and riverside campsites on an operating dairy farm, where the rhythm of cows, tractors and open country become part of your stay. The Farm Cottage sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms and features two bathrooms, modern kitchen appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, gas stove) and a wood-fired hot tub with mountain and dam views. The River Cottage is a two-bedroom home for up to four, located right on the banks of the Breede River, with its own deck, wood-fired hot tub, braai area and full kitchen/laundry amenities. The campsites (five stands) offer private wooden decks, kitchensinks, bathrooms, fire-pits and direct river views, with kayaks and WiFi provided. Whether you’re in a cottage or campsite you’ll experience comfort and nature together.

Set between the Langeberg mountains and the flowing Breede River, this property invites you into a rural escape just off the R60, midway between Bonnievale and Swellendam. The landscape is defined by eucalyptus and pepper trees, green pastures, cattle grazing and a calm riverbank atmosphere, making it ideal for unwinding. The riverfront location allows kayaking, swimming and fishing; the dairy-farm context means you’ll witness milking hours, calves and farm life in authentic setting.
