Mont Rouge is a self-catering riverside cottage retreat on a working fruit farm in the Tulbagh Valley, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Winterhoek Mountains. The property offers four individual cottages — The Social (sleeps 10), The Patio (sleeps 6), The Honey (sleeps 2) and The Hide (sleeps 6) — each with its own private wood-fired Kol Kol hot tub and outdoor braai area. Interiors are open-plan with fully equipped kitchenettes, air conditioning, smart TVs and cosy fireplaces in select units. The Honey is a treetop retreat designed for couples, while The Social suits larger groups or families. A shared natural rock swimming pool, fed by the farm's river, is available on-site. Bedding, towels, and morning essentials are provided in all units. The property runs on solar power and is loadshedding-free. Wi-Fi is available throughout.

Setting Description

Mont Rouge sits 12 km north of Tulbagh town, enclosed by the towering Winterhoek Mountains on a three-generation family fruit farm that has been in the Du Plessis family since 1928. The cottages are positioned along a babbling stream surrounded by fruit orchards, with mountain views from every angle. The Tulbagh Wine Route is moments away, with estates including Saronsberg, Montpellier and Krone offering tastings and cellar tours. Hiking trails at Murludi and the Waterfall Trail are close by, as are mountain biking routes and the Horse About equestrian trails. The historic Church Street in Tulbagh is a short drive away, lined with Cape Dutch architecture, restaurants and the town's famous earthquake museum. Guest can also pre-order personalised picnic baskets with locally baked breads, homemade jams and local MCC directly from the property.
