Filled with history
We loved the spacious interior and the quaint furnishings made us feel as if we were living in the past.
The Barn McGregor is a charmingly restored farm shed that seamlessly blends rustic allure with modern comforts. Accommodating up to five guests, the residence features three thoughtfully appointed bedrooms: a main bedroom with a queen-size bed, a second bedroom with twin beds, and a third bedroom - affectionately termed the "Monks Room"—with a three-quarter bed. These rooms share a bathroom equipped with a classic Victorian bathtub and an invigorating outdoor shower.
The open-plan kitchen and lounge area exude warmth and hospitality, highlighted by dark-beamed ceilings and antique furnishings. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped with modern appliances, including a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and two refrigerators - one for food and another as a mini-bar. The lounge, centred around a cozy fireplace, offers comfortable seating and a flat-screen TV with selected DStv channels. Complimentary Wi-Fi is also available. Step outside to discover a lush, fully enclosed garden teeming with birdlife, providing a serene retreat. The back stoep features braai facilities and an outdoor entertainment area, perfect for alfresco dining. Secure on-site parking accommodates up to three vehicles. Additionally, the property welcomes one pet by prior arrangement, ensuring a delightful stay for your furry companion.
Nestled in the heart of McGregor, a heritage village established in 1861, The Barn offers guests an authentic small-town experience. The village is renowned for its well-preserved 19th-century architecture and vibrant cultural scene. A leisurely stroll from the property leads to an array of art galleries, pottery studios, boutique wineries, and charming eateries. The surrounding landscape, characterized by the majestic Riviersonderend Mountains and the expansive Klein Karoo, invites exploration through hiking and cycling trails, offering breathtaking vistas and encounters with local flora and fauna.
