Perfect!

Everything about Whale & Gin Spotter was outstanding. The location overlooking the sea is unbeatable, and the eco-house we stayed in was incredibly beautiful and clean with spectacular views.

Highly Recommended

The property is beautifully designed with great attention to detail. Direct view of Walker Bay where whales cavort, right in front of the accommodation. Excellent breakfast and warm hospitality.

Exceptional!

The accommodation, views, and ambience were spectacular. The hosts are generous and thoughtful. We saw whales just outside our bedroom window almost every day.

Wonderful stay

Friendliness of the staff and proximity to the coastline. The terrace for watching whales was a highlight. Hot water and ability to cater for self were appreciated.

Accommodation Description

Whale & Gin Spotter is an eco-conscious, seafront guest house perched above the rugged shoreline of Walker Bay in De Kelders. With uninterrupted views stretching from Danger Point to Hangklip, this boutique retreat offers a front-row seat to one of the world's premier land-based whale-watching locations. From June to December, guests can observe Southern Right Whales breaching and nursing just metres from their private decks or even from the comfort of their beds. The property features five thoughtfully designed units: the Beach House (a self-catering unit accommodating two adults and one child), the interleading Beach House Double Room, and three Fynbos Double Rooms. Each room boasts minimalist interiors, queen or king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, and private decks overlooking the ocean. Guests can enjoy a daily gourmet breakfast, often served in-room or on the terrace, featuring fresh pastries, fruits, and local delicacies. The communal areas include a children's play area and secure parking. Please note that Wi-Fi is available in public areas, and the property maintains a non-smoking policy throughout.

Setting Description

Nestled within the Cape Floral Kingdom, Whale & Gin Spotter offers a serene escape amidst indigenous fynbos and dramatic coastal cliffs. The guest house is within walking distance of Stanford's Bay and the Klipgat Caves, providing ample opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and exploring the rich biodiversity of the Overberg region. The tranquil setting, combined with the rhythmic sounds of the ocean, creates an ideal environment for relaxation and nature appreciation.
