Situated among lush bushland and positioned between two flowing streams, the five-star Kichaka Lodge at Lalibela Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape offers exclusive suites featuring private heated plunge pools and terraces. The stone and thatch suites at Lalibela Game Reserve Kichaka Lodge come equipped with air conditioning, fully stocked minibars, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The rates encompass two game drives per night of stay, inclusive of all meals and beverages. Guests have the option to dine indoors or outdoors, or simply unwind by the pool with their preferred drink. Conveniently, Kichaka Game Lodge is just over a 1-hour drive from Port Elizabeth Airport, while the centre of Grahamstown is 35 km away. Airport transfers are available for booking at an additional cost.
Lalibela Game Reserve is considered a distinctive jewel in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, characterised by its exceptional, unbroken, and self-sufficient expanse where diverse species roam freely. In contrast to other reserves, Lalibela avoids segregating lions, buffalos, and elephants into separate enclosures, fostering a harmonious natural environment. Notably, Lalibela has more lions than game viewing vehicles and a strict policy on the number of vehicles per sighting guarantees unparalleled wildlife encounters without disruptions.
The landscape itself adds to Lalibela's uniqueness, as the prevalence of grassland savanna supports an exceptionally high concentration of game, surpassing other Eastern Cape reserves. This abundance, coupled with impressive numbers of plains game species, sustains a remarkable predator population. Moreover, Lalibela stands out as one of the rare Eastern Cape reserves with no public roads cutting through its vastness, ensuring an undisturbed and immersive experience in this extraordinary wildlife sanctuary.

Everything was great; from the service of the lodge staff to the game drive tour guides. Cannot find fault with anything.

Beautiful and quiet (with the welcome exception of the hippos in the watering hole!). Stunning views from the lodge, lovely staff and food. The dip pools were heated which was lovely, even in the rain. The game drives were incredible and without doubt the highlight of each day .

The staff and facilities were amazing. The location is lovely. The safari drives were wonderful.

Lalibela embodies the philosophy of "Conservation for conservation's sake," a commitment that extends to various aspects of environmental stewardship. Preservation efforts at Lalibela encompass both native flora and fauna, along with a conscientious approach to reducing waste within the reserve. An ongoing project that exemplifies this dedication involves the meticulous removal of alien wattle trees. In this process, the extracted trees are carefully burned, and the resulting ash is reintegrated into the soil.
Water conservation is also prioritized at Lalibela, with an on-site water purification plant. Through an advanced filtration process, water is efficiently managed at the lodges, highlighting a commitment to sustainability in resource utilization. The dedication to wildlife conservation is reinforced by an impassioned team actively involved in protecting the reserve's biodiversity. Lalibela's anti-poaching unit plays a crucial role in safeguarding endangered species from external threats.
Beyond the environmental focus, Lalibela extends its dedication to the local community, with staff originating from the region. The establishment of various initiatives, from feeding schemes to addressing primary healthcare needs, underscores Lalibela's comprehensive approach to conservation. This approach goes beyond the reserve boundaries, positively impacting both the environment and the local community.
