Accommodation Description

The Old Pumphouse at Land’s End Private Game Reserve is a luxury hideaway on the banks of the Kariega River in the Eastern Cape. Located between the coastal town of Port Alfred and the historic charm of Makhanda (Grahamstown), this exclusive retreat offers guests total privacy amidst diverse terrains, including rocky cliffs, grassy plains with scattered thorns, dense ravine thickets, and lush forests. Once used to house irrigation pumps decades ago, the Pumphouse has been beautifully transformed into a secluded, off-grid retreat where luxury and nature meet. Designed for couples, this romantic, self-catering unit accommodates two guests in a sumptuous king-size bed, with thoughtful touches that make it an unforgettable escape.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with complimentary homemade roosterbrood, perfect for enjoying on the expansive deck as wildlife wanders along the riverbank. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame breathtaking views of the Kariega River, while stylish interiors blend rustic charm with modern comfort. A well-appointed kitchen, cosy living spaces, and an outdoor firepit invite you to unwind and reconnect. Entirely off the grid with limited cellphone reception, the Pumphouse offers true digital detox—though a short walk will reconnect you to the outside world.

“Our dream has always been to share the privilege of growing up in the African bush. We know what this place has given us, and we have no doubt you’ll find it here too.”

Setting Description
