Gondwana Game Reserve, once utilized as cattle and sheep farms, was selected due to its conservation significance, its ability to sustain wildlife, and its tourism appeal. The Gondwana Conservation Foundation (GCF) is a non-profit organization established to aid in the preservation of South Africa's endangered natural habitats and wildlife, particularly in the Southern Cape region, through active management and by imparting training and skills to the local community surrounding the Gondwana Game Reserve. Additionally, the foundation offers anti-poaching courses, recognizing the rampant poaching issue facing South African wildlife. Consequently, the game reserve is diligently working to address this challenge by training individuals dedicated to safeguarding wildlife.
