Antares Bush Camp offers a unique self-catering safari experience in the heart of Greater Kruger, located within the Balule Nature Reserve. This exclusive bush camp features over 7500 hectares of traversing area, allowing you to explore a diverse range of landscapes and encounter the Big 5 and over 300 bird species. The camp’s highlight is the Umgede photography hide, situated on the water’s edge, which provides a perfect vantage point for photographing wildlife up close.
With only five en-suite bedrooms accommodating a maximum of eight guests, you can immerse yourself in the tranquility of the bush with your small group or family. Enjoy air-conditioning, indoor and outdoor showers, and full catering, which is available on request. After a day of wildlife viewing, relax in the plunge pool and stay connected with free Wi-Fi. Come and discover the beauty of Antares Bush Camp, where you can capture memories to last a lifetime.
Antares Bush Camp and Umgede Hide is located in a private concession within the Balule Nature Reserve. There are no fences between Balule and Kruger National Park which means the wildlife roams freely between the two areas. The big draw to staying on a private concession, however, is that you don’t experience the crowds of tourists commonly seen in the main reserve – but are still able to enjoy the majesty that the Kruger National Park is known for.
Experience a game drive from the back of an open Land Rover and come close to the larger animal species on the reserve, or discover over 300 bird species on guided birding tours. Join a morning game walk to learn about wildlife and nature, or book a photography guide and learn from a professional photographer to capture stunning images from Umgede Hide.

Unbelievable stay
When travelling to Antares Bush Camp we had high expectations, but when we arrived, we could not believe our eyes. The camp is set up so beautifully, and the photographic hide is perfect. We cannot wait to return!
39 Scorpion Road, Grietjie Private Nature Resevre, Phalaborwa, 1389
From Phalaborwa follow the R40 south from Phalaborwa until you see the turn off to Grietjie on the left hand side (about 20kms). At the control gate tell the security guards that you are going to Antares. At the crossroads turn right and follow the signs for the camp. When you reach the gate to Olifants North Game Reserve, don't go through the gate but turn left and follow the road for about 1km. Antares is the first road to your right. The camp is 12 kms along a dirt road from the R530.
