Nyala Safari Lodge is a full-board wildlife retreat on the banks of the seasonal Mohlabetsi River in the Greater Kruger’s Balule Nature Reserve. Nyala Safari Lodge features traditional thatched-roof accommodations, designed to immerse guests in an authentic bushveld experience. The lodge is set in a pristine location, surrounded by the untouched beauty of Balule Nature Reserve. Fabulous family adventure
We have been on several safari's and this is up there at the top of our list. The lodge is superb and the management and staff made us so welcome.

From Johannesburg central to Hoedspruit – approx. 5/6 hour journey:
Take N1 to Pretoria then N4 – Witbank (Emalahleni );
From O R Tambo International Airport take the R21 Boksburg road then the N12/N4 towards Emalaheni Witbank and Middelburg;
The N12 merges with the N4 from Pretoria, continue on this main N4 route towards Nelspruit and Maputo;
After going through Middelburg and past the Alzu off ramp (a good rest room stop with a variety of good takeaway food) take the next Belfast offramp – the R33;
Drive into Belfast (GPS and google maps gets confused in this area so please ensure you head to Dullstroom by following the R540 Dullstroom / Lydenburg Rd);
Once in Dullstroom, a lovely town to wonder around if time allows – lots of shops and restaurants, carry on straight and head towards Lydenburg. The road has a few potholes – be aware;
Drive through Lydenburg (Mashishing), and follow the R36 route to Ohrigstad – the road has some large potholes in it which can be pretty bad so please drive carefully in this section;
Carry on through to the Abel Erasmus pass down the mountain – again be careful as the road is steep;
Pass through the tunnel and then approx. 60 km on into Hoedspruit;
You will pass citrus farms, monsoon café, game farms and farm stalls, cross the Blyde River, etc there is speed limit of 60km in the farming areas so keep an eye out for traffic officers. Follow this road as it goes directly to Hoedspruit Town;
Drive straight through the town over 3 intersections, and just over a railway bridge you will get the R40 junction. (left takes you to Phalaborwa );
Go straight across here and you will see the fire station on your RHS. After approx. 800m you will reach a T junction;
Turn left here;
Then almost immediately (100m) you will see a dirt road on the RHS, there are Jejane /Olifants /Nyala signs etc, so turn right here and follow this dirt road choose either fork in the road as they both lead to the Jejane /Balule gate and you must sign in here for Nyala;
ALL self drive guests to leave their vehicles at the main Jejane gate pick up times are 13h30 and 15h00 please try to coincide with these times when making arrangements.

Children aged between 5 and 11 pay 50% of the sharing rate. Children aged between 12 and 18 pay 100% of the sharing rate.
