Set within an idyllic valley, surrounded by lakes and adjacent to Highlands Farm established in 1886, Penwarn Farm Lodge spans over 3400 hectares of land owned by the fifth generation of Nicholsons. Everything the place is exactly like the pictures beautiful, clean and spacious. Staff are friendly and always on time to clean. Overall an amazing experience.

So beautiful! It was very tranquil and quiet relaxing. It’s a hidden gem with all the amenities you need to get by comfortably. It is very well maintained and the service staff were just amazing. If you want to get away and go offline for a while - this is the place to do just that. Rest, relax and reset!

What a gem of a spot to get off the grid .The view from the house overlooking the mountains and privacy provided was great .The free lifejackets and canoe are a nice touch for the kids .The staff were very professional and friendly .

Driving from Durban take the N3 towards Pietermaritzburg, drive 95km until you take Exit 99 towards R617 and Underberg. Turn left onto Zeederberg Road towards R617 and Mpophomeni, continue for 111km through Boston, Bulwer until you reach Underberg, drive through Underberg towards Kokstad, pass the Underberg Country Club on your right and drive over the Uzimkhulu River Bridge and take your first right onto the Bushman''s Nek Road (please NOTE this is a gravel road that may have potholes), drive for 15.9km, and make a slight left (don't take the D1 turn). After 8km, Penwarn Farm Lodge will be on your left
From Johannesburg take the N3 towards Durban, drive 459km and take Exit 99 towards Underberg, turn left onto Zeederbrg Road and Underberg. towards R617 and Mpophomeni, continue for 111km through Boston, Bulwer until you reach Underberg, drive through Underberg towards Kokstad, pass the Underberg Country Club on your right and drive over the Uzimkhulu River Bridge and take your first right onto the Bushman''s Nek Road (please NOTE that this is a gravel road that may have potholes), drive for 15.9km, and make a slight left (don't take the D1 turn). We do not have a swimming pool but have a lovely little river which has a stunning rock pool to swim in, less than 2km down the road on the property.
Free WIFI is ONLY in reception and we cannot promise you strong network coverage in your cottages.
All cottages have gas stove tops in the kitchens.
There is no restaurant on the property, all cottages have full kitchens and are self-catering.
Most guest can access our property with their small cars but we advice people to drive slowly and with caution. We have to warn guest that it is 19km of gravel road which may have potholes as gravel roads can change with weather.
