Setting Description
Set in the private Black Rhino Reserve, part of the greater Pilanesberg National Park, Buffalo Thorn Lodge combines seclusion with world-class wildlife encounters. This malaria-free Big Five region spans ancient volcanic craters and open savannahs, where herds of elephant, lion prides, and rhinos roam freely. The lodge overlooks a waterhole that attracts game throughout the day, allowing guests to experience close-up wildlife viewing from the comfort of their deck or jacuzzi. Only one group occupies the lodge at a time, ensuring privacy and uninterrupted tranquility. The area’s rich biodiversity and scenic beauty make it ideal for photography, birdwatching, and sunset drives. Despite its wild setting, the lodge is only a few hours from Johannesburg and Sun City, making it easily accessible while retaining a true sense of remoteness. It’s the perfect retreat for families, couples, or friends seeking the exclusivity of a private safari lodge.
