Breathtaking, magical, peaceful
The silence was absolute food for the soul.
The De Hoop Boshuisies offer a secluded, off-grid retreat for those seeking a rustic yet comfortable escape into nature. Situated on the working farm Laaiplaas, approximately 10 km outside Robertson, these two wooden cabins are designed for guests who appreciate simplicity and tranquillity. Each cabin accommodates up to four guests, featuring a bedroom with a double bed and an open-plan living area with a bunk bed. The cabins are equipped with a kitchenette that includes a gas cooker top, gas fridge, and basic cutlery and crockery. Please note that there is no electricity; lighting and cooking are facilitated by gas, and guests are required to bring their own linen and towels.
A separate ablution block, located approximately 70 meters from the cabins, provides each unit with a private bathroom featuring a shower, basin, and toilet, all supplied with hot water via gas geysers. A communal scullery is available for dishwashing. Each cabin opens onto a patio with outdoor seating and a braai area, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the serene surroundings. The cabins are accessible via a gravel road; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended.
Nestled at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, the De Hoop Boshuisies provide a tranquil setting amidst the natural beauty of the De Hoop-kloof. The farm's secluded location ensures minimal cell phone reception, offering guests an opportunity to disconnect and rejuvenate. Surrounded by indigenous flora and fauna, the area is ideal for birdwatching, hiking, and exploring clear mountain pools. The nearby town of Robertson, known for its renowned wine estates, is just a 15-minute drive away, providing access to local shops and attractions.

From Cape Town, turn onto the R60 at Worcester, follow through to Robertson, follow right through town until reaching the traffic circle on the other end of town, turn left at the circle onto Johan de Jongh drive, pass over three stop signs and turn right at the next turn off (De Hoop turn off). From there follow the road for 10 km (first 8 tar and last 2 gravel) until reaching our farm, Laaiplaas and De Hoop Cottages. We are the very last farm on this road, right against the mountain.
No, the cabins are off-grid and utilize gas for cooking and lighting.
Cell phone reception is limited, offering a peaceful escape from digital distractions.
