Accommodation Description

Dew Cottage is a rustic, self-catering farm cottage on Vredenshoogte, a small organic fruit farm about 25 km from Montagu along Route 62. The cottage sleeps up to 5 guests in a relaxed, homely space. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed, with a bunk-bed alcove leading off the room that’s ideal for 2 children, plus a single bed in the lounge. There’s a shower bathroom, and all linen, duvets and towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped for easy self-catering with a gas stove, microwave and fridge, while a cosy indoor fireplace, heaters and a fan keep stays comfortable year-round. Outside, a covered wooden deck with dining table and hammock overlooks the garden, orchards and mountains, with a braai area and farm-style swimming pool just beyond for lazy afternoons.

Setting Description

Dew Cottage sits in the Keisie Valley at the base of Burgers Pass, framed by the Langeberg Mountains and surrounded by orchards, fynbos and open farmland. The 9.5 ha organic farm produces fruit, nuts and seasonal vegetables, with snow-dusted peaks in winter and blossom or harvest colour through the rest of the year. The setting is wonderfully quiet, with dark skies for star-gazing, birdsong by day and the sound of a seasonal stream below the deck in wetter months. Guests can wander along farm tracks, swim in the pool or explore nearby trails and wine routes around Montagu, famous for its hot springs, climbing cliffs and scenic hiking routes. With no WiFi and limited cell reception at the cottage, it’s a genuine countryside escape that still sits within an easy 20–25 minute drive of town cafés, galleries and shops.
