Hoogwater Farm is a peaceful self-catering haven located in the picturesque Bovlei Valley, just outside Wolseley in the Western Cape. Tucked away between the majestic Witzenberg and Hawekwa mountain ranges, this working farm produces high-quality fruit such as apples, pears and plums, providing an authentic experience whether you're visiting for a weekend retreat or a longer stay.

Guests can choose from four self-catering options: Hoogwater Cottage sleeping four in two en-suite bedrooms; Hoogwater Farm House sleeping six in three en-suite bedrooms with a private splash pool; a cozy Garden Cottage is perfect for two, with a garden patio; and the Family Home for larger groups sleeping 12 in three en-suite bedrooms, an open-plan living space, and an outdoor area for alfresco dining.

Hoogwater Farmlife and Accommodation Setting

Set in the heart of the beautiful Bovlei Valley, Hoogwater Farm is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes that define the Cape Winelands. The farm’s lush fruit orchards and expansive fields are framed by the dramatic peaks of the Witzenberg and Hawekwa mountains, creating a serene and secluded environment.

The surrounding landscape offers mountain biking and hiking, with trails that showcase the farm’s natural beauty. Guests can also enjoy peaceful fishing or canoeing at the nearby dam, or take advantage of the excellent birdwatching opportunities. Perfect getaway

Great place to visit for the morning or for a weekend getaway. It's my second time visiting the cottage and it's a great, comfortable and modern cottage with all you need.

How to get there

The drive takes about 1 hr 15 mins from central Cape Town, or about 15 mins longer if you travel via the more picturesque Bain’s Kloof pass on the R301. The farm is just off the R43, before you reach Wolseley. Option 1: N1/R44/R301 Bain’s Kloof Pass (via Wellington): If travelling via Bain’s Kloof, take the R44 Klapmuts turnoff from the N1 and travel via Wellington. Once in Wellington drive down Church Street and into Bain’s Kloof Pass. On exiting Bain’s Kloof take a left towards Ceres onto the R43. About 4km later you will see the turnoff to Hoogwater farm on your left. If you reach the Voortrekker Road turnoff that takes you into Wolseley, you have gone 2.5km too far! On the gravel road marked HOOGWATER, turn right at the T Junction. Keep driving till until you round the corner. You will see the cottage on your left. Option 2: N1/R101/R43 (via Slanghoek Valley): If you don’t have a head for heights, you can travel along the N1 towards Worcester. Take the turnoff towards Rawsonville, there will be a weigh bridge on your left. Take the next exit left into Slanghoek. Drive straight through the Slanghoek Valley and after you cross the river you will reach a T junction. Turn left towards Wolseley/Ceres. Should you choose this route, please contact me at 083 762 2803 prior to your departure to make sure the river has not flooded the low water bridge. The turnoff to Hoogwater farm from the R43 is approximately 7km from this junction. If you reach the Voortrekker Road turnoff that takes you into Wolseley, you have gone 2.5km too far! On the gravel road marked HOOGWATER, turn right at the T Junction. Keep driving till until you round the corner. You will see the cottage on your left.
