Vineyard Cottage, Goodluck Homestead, is a stunning eco cottage located on a regenerative farm in the quaint Overberg town of Stanford in the Western Cape. Surrounded by sweeping vineyards and indigenous fynbos, the escape offers a wonderful break in nature with breathtaking views of Walker Bay and the Klein River Mountains. The cottage is entirely off-grid with solar power, ensuring a seamless (loadshedding-free!) stay for guests.
The cottage has been lovingly hand-sculpted using local and natural materials and is an ideal retreat for couples or solo travelers, featuring a comfortable king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a free-standing bath, walk-in shower, and an outdoor shower overlooking the garden. There's also an open-plan fully equipped kitchen, dining area, indoor fireplace, and covered patio with outdoor seating, a built-in braai area, and an inviting hot tub from which to enjoy the gorgeous views.

Stanford is a small riverside village tucked beneath the Klein River Mountains, just 16km (20 minutes) east of Hermanus in South Africa. Absolute Gem!
What an absolute gem of a place.The view looking out to the vineyards and mountains is spectacular.The entire cottage gave us such a relaxing feeling.The indoor fireplace was also amazing as we had very cold weather during our stay.The cottage was spotless.

At the Stanford circle take the R326 towards Caledon, after about 5kms turn right onto the Papiesvlei Road, you will see a brown sign saying Vaalvlei. Continue for 5kms. Just after the Panthera turnoff you will see on the right there are 2 white gate pillars and it says Vaalvlei on the left of the gate, enter through these gates. If the gate is closed the code is 0505#
You can drive up through the farm and carry on along that road past the vineyards, it will lead you straight to Vineyard Cottage.
Frequently asked questions
Unfortunately no children are allowed at the Vineyard Cottage.
We don't allow dogs at Goodluck Homestead as it is a working farm with lots of farm animals.
