The reserve features six charming self-catering cottages and a large renovated thatched barn, making it an ideal destination for group gatherings, couples retreats, or family holidays. Each of the cottages has been thoughtfully designed to ensure uninterrupted peace and privacy where guests can relax on a shady verandah, take a dip in the mountain water plunge pool, and enjoy a cosy evening in front of a log fireplace.
Situated at the foot of the Winterhoek Mountains in the Western Cape of South Africa, Welbedacht Game & Nature Reserve offers a peaceful and unspoiled environment where guests can enjoy a range of activities, including game viewing, nature trails, bird watching, swimming and fishing in the farm dam, and mountain biking through the surrounding wilderness. The reserve is home to a diverse variety of flora and fauna, including pole cats, caracal, cape foxes, buck species, springbok, zebra, and black wildebeest.

We had an amazing stay! The cottages and the surroundings led to such a peaceful holiday. We left feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. We enjoyed the hiking, walks and spotting the animals.

and then through the Nuwe
Kloof Pass
* After the pass, 2 km, turn left
towards Tulbagh
* After about 2 km, arrive at the
stopstreet, turn left into
Tulbagh town
* Go through the main street of
town, past the shops, continue
through the 4 way stop and past the
church on your right
* Drive for 9 km and turn
left onto a dirt road just past
'Vrolikheid' Horse Farm which
is on your right
* Drive 900m, at the turn off to the reserve there is
a sign at the entrance with a
Blue Butterfly on it: 'Welbedacht Nature

No pets are allowed, as Welbedacht is located on a Nature Reserve with plains game that roam around freely.
Yes, guests are welcome to bring their own fishing rods along and fish in the dam on the property.
