I cannot recommend this place enough
You can't get this type of experience just anywhere!! Kingly Explorer Camp is super special. Despite being relatively rustic, you still have all the amenities you could ever want or need in the bush. Absolute luxury of a different kind. Again - total peace and tranquility - and recharging of the batteries- literally and figuratively. Bush walks, game drives, superb evenings around the fire - I cannot recommend this place enough.

So this charming tented camp has a fantastic and easily accessible layout in a beautiful bush location, each tent equipped with its own private bathroom (with a view) definitely a plus when out in the bush. We saw elephants regularly at the dam behind camp playing and drinking. If you were lucky you even might see one of the Ellie’s stealin' a sip from the pool! The staff were absolutely fantastic, very accommodating.

Kingly Bush Camp is located in the GDP Reserve which forms part of the well-known Balule Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger. GDP Reserve offers opportunities to spot the Big 5.
Occupying a territory of 3700 hectares bordering the perennial Olifants River, Kingly offers the best of both savannah and riverfront habitats. In addition, the undulating landscapes laden with rocky outcrops and hills provide plenty of den sites for big cats. Hippos and crocodiles can be seen in the river.
Kingly Bush Camp is located 15km from Phalaborwa town and 20km from the Phalaborwa Kruger Gate.

How to get there
Directions from OR Tambo Airport / Johannesburg:
1. Take the N12 or N4 highway to Witbank / eMalahleni. If coming from Johannesburg Airport, follow signs to Boksburg to find the N12.
2. Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza) and take the Belfast turnoff toward Dullstroom on the R540.
3. Continue through Lydenburg and Ohrigstad on the R36. Go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit.
4. Turn left onto the R40.
5. Follow the R40 toward Phalaborwa.
6. Continue on the R40. The road eventually turns into the R530 as you get close to Phalaborwa.
7. Take the Grietjie Balule turnoff (signposted) and drive to the Grietjie Balule gate.
8. Sign in at the gate, and the team will meet you there and guide you to Kingly Conservation Camp.
