Reviews

  • Lovely

We visited Boschendal for 3 nights and absolutely loved our time on the farm! The staff were very helpful, the extra touches at turndown (and upon arrival) were so special and overall the farm has so much to offer. The room is beautifully decorated and has all the amenities needed. We enjoyed dining at The Werf restaurant and The Deli. Great value for money.

  • Best Family Vacation

Beautiful property in a stunning location. Our accommodation was perfect. Stayed here with our 3-year-old and 7-month-old and had the best time. Our three-year-old participated in the kids club. Would 100% recommend and go back.

Boschendal Werf Garden Suites impact highlights

Boschendal Estate has implemented a range of measures to align with sustainable practices. Their efforts include the removal of over 500 hectares of invasive vegetation, such as acacias, hakeas, and pines, resulting in significant positive changes. This initiative has not only improved birdlife but also facilitated the free movement of wildlife and notably enhanced the flow of small rivers originating from the neighboring mountains. Formerly dry in summer, these rivers now sustain a year-round flow, thanks to these conservation efforts.

In the vineyards, the implementation of cover crops serves multiple purposes, enhancing soil quality, discouraging weed growth, aiding in pest control, and effectively managing soil erosion. Water conservation strategies, including the removal of invasive trees, ensure a consistent and natural water supply. The estate invests in irrigation systems prioritizing conservation efforts. As WWF Conservation Champions, Boschendal Estate is dedicated to biodiversity-friendly, regenerative farming practices, preserving natural areas, and continually improving water and energy efficiencies.

With SIZA certification in place, the farm upholds ethical and environmentally sound trade practices through the Farm Shop. Collaboratively assessing environmental impacts, undertaking conservation efforts, and adhering to labor legislation standards are central to their commitment. Boschendal Estate is proud to be IPW certified, aligning with international wine industry environmental sustainability criteria, ensuring environmentally responsible wine production, bottling, and sales.

In partnership with The Greater Simonsberg Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation and community services, Boschendal Estate engages in proactive conservation efforts covering 700 hectares of the farm. This collaboration contributes positively to preserving the land and supporting neighboring communities

For those interested in a deeper understanding of this eco-conscious approach, farm tours are available. Led by knowledgeable local guides, these tours explore the Food Garden, Werf precinct, surrounding farmlands, and model farm, delving into the farm's history, regenerative farming practices, and sustainable gardening techniques.

When dining at The Werf or The Deli, patrons can be assured that every item on their plate is sourced directly from neighboring farmlands, including free-range poultry, pasture-raised Angus cattle, and freshly harvested herbs and vegetables.
