Accommodation Description

Conveniently located in the heart of Montagu in the Western Cape, Olive Stone Farm is a charming, beautifully designed self-catering escape on a working farm that has undergone a thoughtful transformation. Originally a wild piece of land adorned with olive trees, it now offers scenic cottage accommodation in a peaceful off-the-grid setting.

Guests can choose from three cottages – the Olive Cottage, Stone Cottage, or Farm Cottage – all built out of stone collected from farms outside of Montagu. The cottages feature king-sized beds, inside and outside showers, and fully-equipped kitchens with gas ovens and stoves, embracing the off-grid farm-style living experience.

As the colder winter months roll in, Olive Stone Farm warmly welcomes visitors with its cosy amenities. Each cottage is equipped with a wood-fired hot tub, electric blankets, heaters, and an indoor fireplace, creating a snug retreat from the chilly weather. The stone barn and animal kraal, a thriving vegetable garden and natural stone swimming pools all add to the character of Olive Stone Farm, which is also a sanctuary to chickens, ducks, sheep, and even a tamed guinea fowl or two.

Setting Description

Olive Stone Farm is enveloped by the majestic Langeberg Mountains and lies along the renowned Cape Route 62 in South Africa, the world's longest wine route. This location offers a wealth of natural wonders and cultural treasures, and Montagu's rich biodiversity is a highlight with key species including indigenous flora and fauna, making it essential to conservation efforts.

The Langeberg Mountains provide a stunning backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts, offering hiking, cycling, and rock climbing opportunities. Olive Stone Farm offers a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, surrounded by nature with easy access to Montagu's attractions. During the scorching Karoo summers, guests can enjoy the cottages' rock plunge pools, sun loungers, sun umbrellas, and indoor ceiling fans, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Guests can also explore the healing hot springs, visit Guano Caves Waterpark, meander through the Nature Garden, and indulge in the local Saturday morning market. For those seeking adventure, tractor trips in the Koo Valley, rock climbing in Cogmanskloof, and scenic hikes along Aasvoëlkrans, Badskloof, and Bloupunt trails await.

A perfect stay

It is not often that one can say that their getaway was absolutely perfect. This getaway is exactly that. Our cottage had so many unique and charming touches that just made everything extra special. The fact that we could bring our dog was a huge bonus for us. Wish we stayed longer - loved every moment.

A peaceful stay

The cottage was beautifully decorated, spacious and so peaceful. The hosts were so welcoming and had kindly stocked the cottage with organic goods from the farm.
