Reviews

  • Serene and Private

The chef’s food was divine, with unique and healthy ingredients and beautiful colours. We stayed in the Lake Cottage, which provides a private, serene atmosphere. While you enjoy your coffee outside on the porch in the morning the rhinos comes to greet you.

  • Relaxing Stay

Fantastic location, with very friendly staff. Excellent food. Be prepared to seriously relax and unwind. All activities are with the staff, ie no driving or walking on your own so you do not have to think and do for yourself. All is done for you.

ZuluWaters Game Reserve impact highlights

ZuluWaters was started with rebuilding conservation in mind. By connecting 7 grazing farms, a 3,000-hectare reserve was established. Dedication was given to restoring the hard-used land to indigenous flora and fauna. Recognised as a pioneering effort in environmental conservation, ZuluWaters became one of the first private Nature Reserves in KZN to be declared under the provincial Wildlife Stewardship Program. Alien gum, wattle and poplar plantations were cleared, watercourses rehabilitated and indigenous grasses planted. Finally, the indigenous game was re-introduced to bring the land back to its former glory. Sustainable tourism is being incorporated into the way of the Reserve. Ultimately ZuluWaters provides an ideal conservation area for wildlife, including the endangered bearded vulture, blue crane, oribi, brown hyena and white rhino. Offering the ultimate safari experience accompanied by high-end, eco-friendly accommodation designed for our guest's comfort.

They take sustainability seriously! That means they think carefully about where their food comes from and what ingredients they use. Their ambition is to connect people with wonderful food experiences that their Chef creates for their guests. They eat local, fresh produce, free of factory-farmed foods. Low impact on the environment, but high impact on the taste buds! They reduce waste wherever possible and aim to use glass bottles and reusable containers. They do not serve any factory-farmed animal products. Beyond the reserve, ZuluWaters has established robust community connections. The Dalton Education Trust, initiated by ZuluWaters in 2008, is dedicated to Early Childhood Development in the nearby communities. By opting to stay at ZuluWaters, you actively contribute to our efforts in supporting children in three local nursery schools.
